Community Music School sets gala at Lehigh Country Club

Community Music School (CMS), 23 N. Sixth St., Allentown, holds its annual fundraiser, "Music: The Universal Language," noon - 3 p.m. April 28, Lehigh Country Club, South Cedar Crest Boulevard,

There will be food, auction items and music presented by CMS students and faculty.

This year's honorary chairs include: Amy Burkett and Ron Upton, Lawrence and Debra Johnson, and James and Mary Klunk.

Co-Chairs are Kelly and Jack E. Payne, Jr.

The committee includes Carolyn Clarke, Connie Cowen, Linda K. Gardner, Patricia Hudson, Priscilla Johnson, Betty Jean Killgore, Susan Phillips, Barbara Platt, Keelarthur Vasudevan and Dr. Ann Williams.

Proceeds benefit CMS programming.

Food drive: St. Luke's University Hospital -- Bethlehem and St. Luke's Hospital -- Anderson Campus held a food drive in a month-long campaign, "Give from the Heart" for New Bethany Ministries and the Hispanic Center of the Lehigh Valley.

More than 2,660 food items were donated and delivered to the two locations Feb 15. The 150 boxes of items include nearly 600 cans of vegetables, more than 500 cans of soup, more than 300 boxes of pasta, canned meats and breakfast items.

"I am so grateful for the generosity of St. Luke's employees in organizing the food drive and donating food items to this effort," said Carol Kuplen, COO, St. Luke's University Hospital -- Bethlehem and Chief Nursing Officer for St. Luke's University Health Network.

LCCC Clay Shoot: Lehigh Carbon Community College's (LCCC) Foundation and Alumni Association hosts its 10th annual Scholarship Spring Clay Shoot April 26, Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays, Ormrod.

Tournament proceeds benefit need-based scholarships and grants for LCCC students.

The event begins at 9:30 a.m. and concludes with a Grumpy's Roadhouse BBQ and an awards presentation.

The registration fee includes 100 rounds of clay shooting, shells, souvenir, refreshments and barbeque.

Carts and gun rental must be reserved separately.
