Softball team seeks longer playoff run

Head Coach - Carey Troxell (First season)

Assistant Coaches - Katelyn Boyd, Heather Hartman (JV), Amanda McGimpsey

District 11 Class - AAA

Last Year's Record - 14-9

Key Losses - Lauren Horner, Katie Williams, Brooke Heller

Key Returnees - Blaise Barron (Sr., OF/2B), Ashley Eden (Sr., P), Stephanie Papp (Sr., 1B), Lyndsay Papp (Sr., C/DH), Nicole Metzger (Sr., 3B), Callie Rehrig (Jr., RF), Morgan Cleary (Jr., CF), Kylee Bennett (Jr., OF), Felicia Heckman (Sr., SS), Emily Bennett (So., P)

Others To Watch - Sonny Greenberg (So., C), Lydia Danner (Fr., P)

Strengths - The Tigers return all but three players from last year's starting line up, including starting pitcher Ashley Eden and several top hitters in Barron, the Papp sisters and Rehrig. This year's team should be solid defensively. It has three capable pitchers and just needs to replace some of last year's offensive threats. The goal is to get deeper into the postseason this year, which means reaching the Colonial League title game and winning two or more games in districts.

Weaknesses - The Tigers need to replace three very good hitters. Horner, Williams and Heller batted 1-3-4 in the order and helped create a lot of the team's offense.

Quotable - "There are six seniors providing a lot of good leadership. We should be good all the way around. We have a good pitching staff. I don't think we're going to beat ourselves. Somebody's going to have to really shut us down at the plate in order to beat us," Head coach Carey Troxell.
