Milton W. Greene

Milton W. Greene, 79, of Emerald, died March 17, 2013, in Blue Mountain Health Systems, Palmerton.

He and his wife Pauline (Steigerwalt) Greene celebrated 12 years of marriage in September 2012.

Born Aug. 23, 1933, in Allentown, he was a son of the late William and Mary (Green) Greene.

Milton was employed by Nestlé Purina, formerly ALPO, South Whitehall, in the maintenance department for 36 years, until retiring.

He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, attained the rank of private first class and received an honorable discharge.

He was a member of Allen O. Delke American Legion Post 16, Slatington, Slatington Skeet Club, active member of VFW Post 7215, Walnutport, and a life member of Star Hose Company No. 1, Emerald.

He enjoyed fishing, golfing, having fun with family and friends, NASCAR, the New York Yankees and played softball in Emerald in the past.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Mary Wanamaker of Slatington, Grace, wife of Tom Fallon, of Lehighton, Greta Greene of Slatington, Cheri Schumada and Wally of Walnutport, Roger "Peanut" Greene and Heather in Maine; stepchildren Jonathan Steigerwalt and Kay of Palmerton, Rick Steigerwalt and Shirley of New Tripoli, Robert Steigerwalt of Lehighton, Shirledene Fisher and Eddy, Mike Steigerwalt and Kathy, Thomas Steigerwalt and Kathy, all of Slatington, Rick and Carey Ann Serfass of Emerald; 33 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Milton Jr. in 2012.

His services will be 11 a.m. March 21, in Kevin E. Hunsicker Funeral Home Inc., 4214 Main St., Slatedale.

Call 10-11 a.m. Thursday. Pastor William Ritzenthaler will officiate. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Slatington.
