Strengths - Northwestern has many team strengths with the return of a great deal of talent from last year combined with a great deal of incoming talent. With girls soccer moving to fall, several soccer players are out for track this spring. The team's strongest group is its distance runners. Assistant track and cross country coach Tim Churetta has been working with them throughout the off-season and they are primed for another big year as a group. The Tigers will pick up a great deal of points in the 800, 1600, 3200, 4x8 Relay. First-year boys head coach Mike Maclaughlin has moved over to the sprinting events and his work coupled with the new additions should mean positive things for the sprinters.

Weaknesses - The Tigers are a bit thin in the long jump, triple jump and pole vault. They will look for some newcomers to step into spots and some veterans to try and fill those holes. As a Class AAA team, Northwestern will face a strong field in districts and states.

Quotable - "I made it perfectly clear to the girls team that our goal is to win the league title in the regular season and compete to win the colonial league championship meet as well. We have enough returning talent infused with new talent to win both," Head coach Dave Kerschner.
