Liberty track and field coach, Kevin Bush, is expecting the same strong Hurricane team that he has led over the past five years.
Key returners for the boys' team are seniors, Gerald Vital and Adam Uliana in sprints, senior, Matt Allred, in distance, and sophomore, Darius Jones, in jumping.
"As a whole, the jumpers are good. Our relays will be pretty good. We didn't graduate too many. Adam and Gerald were on the state relay team last year. We have a lot of new throwers, a lot of football guys. As a boys' team, they're just strong as a group," Bush said.
Key returners for the girls' team are senior, Asia Wright, and junior, Gabby Pastor, in sprints, seniors, Casey Harewood and Lauren Hess in jumping, and senior, Gracie Harewood, in throwing.
"For Gracie and Casey, my expectations are high for them," said Bush.
Hargrove placed third in the state for discus last year. Harewood placed fourth in the high jump in the winter track state meet this year.
Newcomers to the girls' team in distance are Nikki Nelson and Paige Gross.
"We've been working hard. Both teams should be pretty decent. We just need to keep everyone healthy. Both teams have been strong the past couple years. It should be the same this year," Bush said.
