Northampton column

The Northampton Liederkranz, 402 E. Ninth St., will host a St. Patty's Day celebration tomorrow, Friday, March 15. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The band Prugal will entertain from 8 to 11 p.m.

The event is for members and member guests.

A breakfast will be held Sunday, March 17, 8 a.m.-noon, at the club.

There is a cost for both events.

Assumption of the Virgin Mary church, 1301 Newport Ave., is taking orders for Easter nut rolls until March 17.

Selections include nut, poppy seed, apricot, lekvar and raspberry.

Orders can be picked up at the church Friday, March 22, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

The Assumption BVM social hall, East 22nd Street, will serve breakfast March 17, from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Tickets will be sold at the door.

The Civil War Discussion Group meets again 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at the Northampton Area Public Library, 1615 Laubach Ave.

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. and this month's topic will be Civil War trivia.

The meeting is free and open to the public.

On Thursday, March 28, 6 p.m., members of the Northampton Area High School Drama Club will present a family story time, in costume, with stories and songs from their spring musical "Seussical the Musical."

Children of all ages and their families are welcome. Register by stopping by the library, 1615 Laubach Ave., or by calling 610-262-7537.

The Northampton Area Public Library will participate in Pennsylvania One Book, Every Young Child 2013, a collaborative project highlighting the importance of early literacy development in preschoolers.

The library, located at 1615 Laubach Ave., will hold a family story and craft time featuring "The Bus for Us" by Suzanne Bloom on Tuesday, April 16, 10 a.m. or 6 p.m., or Wednesday, April 17, 10 a.m.

Registration for the program is under way. A current library card is needed.

The Northampton Memorial Community Center, 16th Street and Laubach Avenue, hosts bingo every Monday night. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the games begin at 7 p.m.

The kitchen is open.

Proceeds benefit the Northampton Recreation Center.
