Letter to The Editor

To the Editor:

I reside in Weisenberg Township. I felt compelled to write this letter after reading articles in both the Morning Call and the Northwestern Press (Feb. 28) regarding Leroy Sorensen's decision to remain in his duly elected position.

As I read the articles, what kept popping into my head was a statement Paul Carpenter made in an article written years ago which was, "Something stinks in Weisenberg but it ain't the manure."

In this case, it should read: "Something stinks at the school board meeting and it ain't the manure."

Statements made by the mini lynch mob attending the board meeting smacked of political sour grapes.

The more I read, the more infuriated I became.

This whole thing feels like a set-up. Who was the anonymous tipster? Who called the television station, the newspapers and the police?

How did they become aware of the incident so quickly? Did it ever occur to any of you this was an orchestrated event on the part of political foes?

Those of you who got on your moral high horses should be ashamed of yourselves.

I thought it is incredulous anyone could put the blame on Mr. Sorensen, let alone ask for his resignation.

He was on a trip, in another state, at the time this happened.

Are you, who cast stones, innocents? You should not feel good about yourselves.

My suggestion is that some of you take big boy and girl pills.

Stop trying to undermine the new people on the board who were elected to do a job.

Perhaps you should check where your own moral compass is pointing.
