The Schnecksville Heat girls 5th/6th grade travel basketball team recently captured the Lehigh Valley League A division championship with a thrilling 21-19 victory over Southern Lehigh. Schnecksville built a 17-3 halftime lead and held on as Southern Lehigh made a furious comeback in the second half.
The Heat finished the season with a 27-4 record and a triple crown that included a summer league championship, the Bulldog Holiday Tournament title and the LVL championship. The team's two-year record is an incredible 47-7 with four championship wins in six title games.
In the LVL playoffs, the Heat defeated South Parkland in the quarterfinals, 19-18, rallying from six points down in the second half. They topped the Lady Pates, 29-20, in the semifinals and Southern Lehigh for the title.
The team was coached by Tim Hurd, Matt Hlay and Beth Rothwell.
