BAVTS News: Car show April 13

Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School is jumping right into spring with BAVTS' second annual car and bike show.

The car show will benefit the SkillsUSA National competition. The car show is April 13 from 9 a.m. till 3 p.m. Costs are $15 for pre registrations and $20 at the door. The event will be held at the Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical school campus located at 3300 Chester Av3., Bethlehem.

The car show will include other activities such as a yard sale, craft and food vendors and children's activities are scheduled for this event date as well.

In the fall of this school year BAVTS re-opened its Precision Machining students will be certified with the Institute for Metalworking Skills Inc. Currently there are 26 students participating classroom renovations are still under way and they are anticipating the purchase of new state of the art equipment over the next few years.

Horticulture and Landscaping students involved in FFA (Future Farmers of America) engaged in a leadership event Feb. 20 which involved public speaking, practicing leadership skills and networking with established members of the community.

Upcoming events include a May plant sale and Awards Banquet. Some students at Bethlehem Vo-Tech will be participating in an Autism Walk April 20 outside of Dorney Park.

The National Technical Honor Society at Bethlehem Area Vocational Technical School recently took part in a food drive collecting food and toiletries for the New Bethany Ministries in Bethlehem. Later in May, the organization will be taking part in a Spring Leadership Event in the Poconos which will involve paintball and white water rafting for team building.

Winners for SkillsUSA from Bethlehem will be competing at the state level in April in hopes to compete in the National level this summer. The district winners are: Automotive Service Technology, Aron Nemes; Co-op Logbook.
