Gene K. Monroe, 93, of Allentown, formerly of Macungie, died March 4, 2013, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of the late Kyle A. Monroe, who died in 2000. Born in Emmaus, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Florence (Eisenhard) Iobst.

She was a graduate of Emmaus High School and was an Army veteran, serving in the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps during World War II.

She was employed as a buyer for the former H. Leh & Co. and the former Hess's Department Store.

She was a member of the Pennsylvania Dutch Society and the Emmaus Historical Society.

She is survived by a sister, Jane Brubaker; stepchildren, David and Robert Monroe, and Kathleen Taylor; many nieces and nephews.

Services are private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were made by the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, Emmaus.
