East Stroudsburg University sophomore Danielle Smith has been named the PSAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Susquehanna Open last Friday, the conference announced Tuesday.
Smith won the 60m dash with a time of 7.75 seconds, tied for the top time in the PSAC this season, going into this weekend's PSAC Indoor Championships at Edinboro on Saturday and Sunday.
Smith's time is also an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time and is two-hundredths of a second off her school record of 7.73, which she set as a freshman. She also ran on the second-place 4x400m relay team that was second in 4:05.00.
She was the PSAC's Women's Track Freshman of the Year during both the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2012, and is the defending PSAC champion in the 100m and 200m at last spring's outdoor championships. She placed third in the 60m and eighth in the 200m during the indoor season.
Smith enters the PSAC Championships tied for the PSAC's top time in the 60m with Mansfield sophomore Olivia Lopes. She is ranked ninth in the 200m in 26.03.
