fatal crash
MacArthur Road was closed Tuesday from Eberhardt Road to Mechanicsville Road to allow police to perform a fatal accident reconstruction.
Two people were killed Saturday in the crash which took place at 6:09 p.m. at MacArthur and Eberhart roads in Whitehall.
Police have tentatively identified the victims as Whitehall residents Sharon Gonazalez-Medina, 41, and a 16-year-old juvenile. Both were in the same vehicle.
"Positive identification is pending investigation from the Lehigh County Coroner's office," says a news release from Whitehall police.
The crash involved a pickup truck. The car in which the two people died caught fire after impact.
Ther driver of the pickup truck and a passenger are hospitalized, one in critical condition, said police Chief Linda J. Kulp.
Investigators are working on reconstructing the crash, police said.
"The reconstruction process may require a detailed examination of the area," says the police news release. "We understand MacArthur Road is a major thoroughfare and we ask for patience in this process."
