Congressman Charlie Dent joined Pennsylvania colleagues Paulsen, Kind and Gerlach in introducing legislation H.R. 523 to repeal the Jan. 1, 2013 medical device act contained in the Affordable Care Act. Companies have already laid-off employees because of it.
The $30 billion tax is applied to the revenues (not profits) of affected companies. Some of Dent's 15th District biomedical companies including Aesculap, BBraun, Boas Surgical, Biomed, Olympus, Orasure and Precision Medical Instruments, whose growth and profitability are threatened by the tax.
