Girls place at D-11 meet

Liberty and Freedom had four divers in the top ten at the District 11 Diving Championships on Feb. 23 at Emmaus High School.

Liberty diver, Brenna McCornac, took fifth place with a score of 325.55. Freedom diver, Kaycee Stoudt, took seventh place with a score of 307.00. McCornac's teammates, Victoria Carter, Rachel Steiner, and Rachel Finn placed eighth, ninth, and 14th respectively.

"It's the best I've done all season," said Stoudt.

After struggling in the LVC eleven-dive meet the week before, Stoudt adopted a more relaxed attitude for districts, focusing more on enjoying the experience.

"I did all my dives fairly well. My back double was the only one I didn't do that well. Everything else was pretty consistent," Stoudt said.

After the first five dives, Stoudt was in eighth place and fell to ninth place after three more dives before rising to seventh place.

One of Stoudt's best dives was her front double.

"I actually came out of it properly, so that was a first," she said.

Stoudt also did an inward one-and-a-half; a dive she had not done since the district meet last year.

Although Liberty/Freedom diving coach, Jeff Zettlemoyer, would have liked to see a trip to the state diving meet, he felt that his divers gave their best effort.

Regarding McCornac, Liberty's highest scorer, Zettlemoyer said, "She really worked hard the last weekend. I only wish I had started them on their upper degree of difficulty dives earlier to practice them more instead of at the end of the season."
