Zion's Union Church Maxatawny, 329 Church Road, Kutztown, will be having mid-week Lenten services 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays Feb. 27 to March 20.

The church will be having a relay for life brunch after the Feb. 24 church service. The youth group brunch will take place after the March 3 church service.

There is a fee to attend both brunches.

Upper Macungie Township is having a free family game night 6-9 p.m. Feb. 22 at Independent Park Community Center, 150 Independent Road, Breinigsville.

No registration is required.

Light refreshments will be available or bring your own.

The township and the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry is offering a free tree trimming course from 5:30-7 p.m. March 5 at Independent Park Community Center.

Topics include: picking the right tree for the right spot, selecting good growing stock, selecting the right tree to buy, proper tree planting, proper tree and planting pit care and homeowner tree pruning.

Registration is needed to attend.

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, is offering family storytimes 10:30-11 a.m. Feb. 21 for children ages 18 months to 3 years.

There will be stories, songs and games for the entire family to share.

Younger and older siblings may also attend.

An adult must stay with each child.

Preschool storytimes for children between the ages of 3 and 5 years will take place 1-1:30 p.m. on Feb. 21.

Parents must stay in the library, but do not have to attend storytime with the children. There will be stories, songs, games, and crafts for all children.

No registration is needed for drop-in storytime

The library will be having drop-in storytime for families with children of different ages 10:30-11 a.m. Feb. 22.

There will be stories, songs and games for the entire family.

Seating is limited, so registration is required.

Spring 2013 storytime registration will be 10 a.m. Feb. 25.

The adult discussion group, Books into Movies, will meet 7-8 p.m. Feb. 27 to discuss "The Lincoln Lawyer" by Michael Connelly.

Spend an afternoon, 1:30-4 p.m. Feb. 28, swapping knitting tips and tricks with the Knitting Circle at the library.

Bring knitting materials and enthusiasm.

The Knitting Circle is for knitters of all ages and skill levels.
