James L. Hoffman, 84, of New Tripoli, died on Feb. 9, 2013.

He and his wife Patricia A. (Schwenk) were married 53 years.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Mark W. and Elsa C. (Lehnert) Hoffman.

Before retiring, he taught science in several school districts, ending his teaching career in the Allentown District.

He loved gardening and operated a nursery for many years.

He traveled the world including spending time in Germany while serving in the Army and spent many winters in Glendale, Ariz. with his daughter, Patty.

In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survived by a son James L. Jr. and his wife, Pamela, of New Tripoli; and grandchildren James L. III and Tara of New Tripoli. He was predeceased by a brother Mark.
