Ritter receives scholarship

Joshua M. Ritter of Catasauqua recently was awarded the Ralphine and Gary Gentzler Scholarship.

Ritter, a student at Shippensburg University majoring in mid-level science and math education, is the son of Michael and Stephanie Ritter of Catasauqua.

He is a 2012 graduate of Catasauqua High School.

graduates

Adam Travis Bierman of Catasauqua graduated Dec. 16 with a bachelor of science degree in biology from Millersville University.

YORK COLLEGE OF PENNSYLVANIA

Students named to dean's list

Kate Lutte and Patrick Burker, both of Catasauqua, were named to the fall 2012 dean's list at York College of Pennsylvania.

Lutte is a freshman biology major and Burker, also a freshman, is majoring in criminal justice.

Joseph Wydner, Alexa Polomchak and Julia King, all of Northampton, were also named to the dean's list for the fall semester.

Wydner is a junior majoring in sport management, Polomchak is a freshman criminal justice major and King, also a freshman, is majoring in early childhood/special education.

To be eligible for the dean's list, a student must be registered for at least 12 academic credit hours and earn a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher.

Stewart earns dean's list status

Morgan Stewart of Whitehall was named to the dean's list for the fall 2012 semester at Widener University. Morgan is studying finance.

The dean's list recognizes full-time students who earned a GPA of 3.50 and above for the semester.

UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE

Michelle Hess and Samantha Upton, of Coplay, have been named to the University of Delaware dean's list.

To meet eligibility requirements for the dean's list, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.33 or above for the semester.

CENTRAL PENN COLLEGE

Timothy Lahr of Northampton has been named to the Central Penn College dean's list for the fall 2012 semester. Lahr is currently majoring in criminal justice administration.

To qualify for the designation, a student must carry six or more credits and earn a GPA of 3.5 or better for the term.

Abby Gruver and Jessica Hobel of Coplay have been named to the Chestnut Hill dean's list.

Gruver is an early education major and Hobel is majoring in forensic chemistry

Daniel Ressler of Northampton has been named to Gwynedd-Mercy College's fall 2012 dean's list.

The dean's list recognizes one of the highest forms of academic excellence within a specific area of study.

Danner earns dean's list status

Cody Michael Danner of Northampton was among 305 students from Thiel College who was named to the fall 2012 dean's list.

Danner is currently a sophomore.

A student at Thiel College must attain a GPA of 3.40 on a 4.0 scale while being enrolled full time to be eligible for the dean's list.

Local students receive degrees

Lorie Christein of Northampton earned a master of science degree in education from Wilkes University in December.

Also graduating last month with master of science degrees in education were Amanda David, Katie Gould, Krista Green, Patricia Sauerwine and Sara Scottolano, all of Whitehall.

Tara Mushko of Catasauqua also received a master of science degree in education.

Receiving bachelor of arts degrees from Catasauqua were James DaRe and Amanda Peters. DaRe received his degree in psychology and Peters was awarded a degree in elementary education.
