Feb. 13

The Verizon Telecom Pioneer Club will hold their monthly meeting, with the installation of 2013 officers, 1 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1533 Springhouse Road, Whitehall. Bring nonperishable food for the food bank.

Feb. 16

Old Zionsville UCC Church, 5981 Fountain Road, Old Zionsville, will host an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet and bake sale 7 to 11 a.m. There will be a cost for guests six and over for breakfast. The public is welcome to attend. For information, call 610-966-5115.

Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 535 West Emaus Ave., Allentown, will host an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner 4 to 7 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the youth group.

Asbury Church, 1533 Springhouse Road, Allentown, will hold its fifth annual Chili Cook-off 5 to 8 p.m. The community is invited to vote for their favorites after tasting 40 chilies made by professional, amateur and firehouse chefs. Visit www.asburylv.org for more information.

The Allentown Public Library will host their monthly film series 2 to 4 p.m. The movie will be "Before Your Eyes." This monthly film series features award-winning foreign films, independent movies and documentaries. No ticket is required and admission is free. The series is intended for audiences 17 and up.

The Allentown Public Library will host the library knitting club 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Knitters with a lifetime of knitting and needlework experience can teach others a stitch or two. In return, newer knitters can teach others some contemporary patterns and cutting-edge techniques. It is creative, relaxing and a great way to meet new people. Other needlework crafts would be welcome. Sign up at the reference desk if you are interested in joining the group.

The Quakertown Farmers Market will host a small business open house 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in department #353A. The open house will focus on reaching out to individuals interested in starting their own business and small business owners who are looking to expand.

Feb. 17

The Lehigh Temple, 2120 Route 100, between Macungie and Trexlertown, will host a breakfast 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also be an Easter candy sale and a bake sale.

Feb. 19

The Concerned East Penn Taxpayers Association will hold a candidates petition signing event 7:30 p.m. at Emaus Fire Company No. 1. The general public is invited to attend to meet potential candidates for various local positions. The event will also be an effective informational session for citizens interested in becoming a candidate. Lehigh County Voter Registration Department heads Tim Benyo and Terri Harkins will explain the steps citizens must follow to run for public office.

Feb. 25

Lehigh Carbon Community College, Schnecksville, will hold a town hall meeting for people with disabilities 1 to 3 p.m. in room 203-205 of the Community Service Center. The event will provide information about housing, transportation, home and community based relations, employment, voting, medical and dental care, emergency preparedness and durable medical equipment.

Feb. 27

The Allentown Public Library will hold open mic night and off the page poetry 7 to 8:30 p.m. It is a platform for poets, storytellers and musicians to share their works and inspiration in an intimate setting. Come perform or just listen.

Feb. 28

The Emmaus Historical Society will meet 7 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut Street, Emmaus. The program, "Emaus Diamond Jubilee of 1934," will take visitors through the Jubilee Week events. Shoo-fly pies can be ordered through April 5 to be picked up at the April 17 program or at the museum April 20. Call 610-966-6591 to order.

March 9

The Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Quarry Road, Alburtis, will hold their spring bazaar 9 to 2 p.m. There will be crafts, a white elephant sale, a Chinese auction, a bake sale and good food.
