Central Catholic High School held its State of the Building presentation Feb. 3 in Rockne Hall.

Led by Principal Dennis Nemes, the presentation was composed of multiple speakers from the various Central Catholic office departments.

The presentation began with a representative from the Catholic School Development Program, an organization focused on bettering Central Catholic as a whole. The organization's main goals were outlined, including developing the identity of CCHS, growing enrollment and increasing fundraising.

The organization also hopes to improve the school and plan for the future with its implementation of the Board of General Governance.

Led by Dennis McCarthy, the CCHS Board of General Governance is composed of several CCHS parents and alumni. Similar to the Catholic School Development Program, this board will seek to enhance Central Catholic by focusing on financial and enrollment affairs, as well as evaluating the principal and his actions.

This board's first project will involve reforming the college preparatory classes at CCHS.

Chaplin Father Allen Hoffa spoke at the presentation regarding the Campus Ministry Department. He referred to multiple Campus Ministry sponsored events, including: daily mass at 7:15 a.m. in the school chapel, as well as the annual service work and retreat requirements for each student.

He also spoke about the Central City Project, Central's main volunteer and service organization and the 2012 March For Life in Washington, D.C., an event that over 250 Central Catholic students attended.

Among the many other speakers at the event were Karen Rolston who described technological advances and Jackie Jones who detailed financial affairs.

CCHS Student Ambassadors also attended the presentation and gave tours of the building to prospective students and parents.
