Beekeepers cite LCCC as educational advocate for their association

The Lehigh Valley Beekeepers Association recently cited Lehigh Carbon Community College for their support of beekeeping and beekeepers in the Lehigh Valley.

LCCC President Donald W. Snyder was on hand recently to accept the award from Association President Steve Finke, of Kutztown, as well as to offer the facility's continued support of the various beekeeper programs held on campus.

The college grounds are home to the Association's Apiary which is used for hands on educational training for new and seasoned beekeepers throughout the spring, summer and fall seasons.

This campus training site for beekeepers is unique among the beekeeping organizations through Eastern Pennsylvania.

The Association also held a beginner beekeeper course at LCCC for more than 60 enrollees recently and began a new four evening course for beginner beekeepers Feb. 6.

The Association was formed in 1921 and has more than 150 members from a multi-county region.

Monthly meetings are free and open to the public.
