The Allen Township Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the 2013 budget.
The $1,486,828 budget is supported by $707,975 in current and back real estate taxes and retains the 5-mill property tax rate, one of the lowest in the region. There will be no increase in property taxes.
A total of $753,031 has been appropriated for highway maintenance and general services. The largest projected expenditures are $155,672 for road crew wages and $49,572 for the public works director. Another $50,000 set aside for diesel fuel and $8,000 for gasoline.
The biggest chunk in the road budget is $253,100 for capital road construction.
Parks and recreation is budgeted at $21,500, including $3,000 for the youth association, $2,000 listed for societies and $6,000 for park repairs and maintenance. Employee benefit costs tally $91,762, with medical insurance as a major cost.
The contribution to the Northampton Area Public Library, whose services are available to township residents, is $5,000.
Another major revenue source is the earned income tax, which the supervisors project $550,000 in revenue and $35,000 coming from the local service tax.
On the expense side, $7,000 is budgeted for supervisors stipends and road inspections.
Under the administration budget, the wage for the office manager is $67,080, office assistant $36,640 and $40,000 for legal services. The engineering fee is projected at $30,000.
