Boy Scouts of America Minsi Trail Council held its 19th annual Wood Badge reunion dinner, "A Century of Eagle Scouts," recently at Jordan Lutheran Church, Orefield.

The reunion, which coincided with the 100th anniversary of the Eagle Award, the Boy Scouts of America's highest rank, was attended by 155 people.

Wood Badge, the most advanced two-week training course for Scout leaders, started in the United States in 1948.

Master of ceremonies for the reunion dinner was Bryan Hill. Auctioneer for the live auction was Glenn Higbie.

Items on display included prints by Norman Rockwell and Joseph Csatari, artists for the Boy Scouts of America, as well as memorabilia and Wood Badge pictures.

To celebrate 100 years of Eagle Scouts, the National Eagle Scout Association commissioned Csatari to paint a commemorative piece of artwork.

The artwork depicts an Eagle Scout, who has climbed onto a mountain ledge overlooking a campsite, where a bald eagle soars overhead.

A silent auction, as well as the live auction raised money for the Wood Badge Fund, established in 1994.

Proceeds from the Wood Badge Fund are used to provide scholarships and support for staff training as well as other needs.
