Harriett E. Bitterman, 86, of Wescosville, died January 18, 2013, in Above and Beyond Assisted Living, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Richard J. Bitterman. Born in Detroit, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mildred (Mohrdiek) Ewing.
She was a special education teacher in the Bethlehem School District from 1980 to 1992, prior she taught in the Syracuse area for 25 years. She received her Bachelor of Arts in education from the University of Michigan.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Allentown.
Family was very dear to her and she enjoyed returning to her family roots and summers in Pentwater, Mich. each year.
She is survived by a son, James R. and his wife Paula, of Northampton; daughter, Mildred A. and her husband Roger Hill, of Grand Rapids, Mich., their children, Eric and Katherine and her husband Charles Baker; daughter, Carol A. and her husband Michael Moore, of Charlotte, N.C. and their children, Andrew and Elizabeth.
Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.
