George H. Plate, 86, of Emmaus, died January 10, 2013, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Mimi (Miriam) A. Plate. The couple would have celebrated 62 years of marriage June 23. Born in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., he was the son of the late Hermann G. and Louise (Jordan) Plate.

He was an active member of Bethel Bible Fellowship Church, where he was an elder, a Sunday school teacher and a small group leader.

He was a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Class of 1945.

He was a board member and volunteer for Care Net in Allentown, and a volunteer with Victory Valley Camp.

He retired as the personnel supervisor for the U.S. East Coast after 41 years of service with Underwriters Laboratories Inc.

He is survived by his wife; children, Stephen R. and his wife Susan, of Wading River, Long Island, N.Y., and Gordon A. and his wife Jeanne, of Doylestown; sister, Louise Johnson; grandchildren, Emily and her husband Benjamin Williams, Randall, Kelsey and Karen.
