Peter Stesney Jr., 87, of Allentown, died Dec. 27, 2012, as the result of a motor vehicle accident in Springfield, Va. His daughter, Laura Kordelski, and a sister, Bernice Supinski, also died in the accident.
He was the companion of Joan Matuskowitz for 17 years.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Peter and Kathryn (Cole) Stesney Sr.
He was a Merchant Marine in the U.S. Coast Guard for 17 years and retired in 1988. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was in World War II and the Korean War.
He attended St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Cherryville.
He was member, chaplain and honor guard group member of V.F. W. Post 7293, Whitehall-Egypt. He was a member of the American Legion Post 353, Northampton and Post 899, Walnutport.
In addition to his companion, he is survived by a daughter, Doris Harness of Norfolk, Va.; two sisters, Joann and her husband James Dale of Harveys Lake and Pamela Hanley of Baltimore, Md.; a stepdaughter, Charlene A. Matuskowitz/Mateus and her husband Michael Petruska of Walnutport; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Peter Stesney; a brother, Carl; and a sister, Kathryn.
