Class of 2013 to get inducted Friday night
The Athletic Hall of Fame Committee in the Whitehall-Coplay School District is proud to announce its hall of fame class of 2013.
Four individuals will be honored at the induction ceremony, which will take place on Friday, Jan. 11, at Whitehall High School. The ceremony will be prior to the varsity boys basketball game between Emmaus and Whitehall, at approximately 6:45 p.m. The varsity game versus Emmaus will begin at approximately 7:30 p.m.
The Hall of Fame Class of 2013 includes:
Michelle Geiger Brown,
Class of 1995
Geiger Brown made her mark as a basketball player and softball player. A two-sport athlete at Whitehall, Geiger was a four-time EPC girls basketball all-star and a four-time EPC softball all-star. Geiger scored 1,341 points during her career at Whitehall, and once scored 41 points in a womens basketball game for East Stroudsburg University. Geiger Brown was a 1998 first team All-PSAC East selection in womens basketball, finishing her ESU career with 961 points. Geiger Brown played for hall of fame coaches Stan Luckenbill and John Churetta at Whitehall and now joins them in the hall.
John P. Kulhamer, Class of 1972
Kulhamer has had a distinguished career in the sport of golf. While at Whitehall, Kulhamer won the 1971 Lehigh Valley League Championship, shooting a 72 at Glenbrook Country Club. He once scored 48 points in a JV basketball game at Whitehall. As a PGA Professional, Kulhamer has attended three PGA Q-Schools, played on the Florida Mini-Tour, and won the Shawnee Open and was a two-time winner of the AB Thorne Tournamentin Lancaster. He was honored as the 2002 Regional Club Fitter of the Year and in 2003 was one of Golf Digest's Top Teachers in the State. He is a member of the Lehigh Valley Golf Hall of Fame.
Scott Saylor, Class of 1982
Saylor made his mark on both the football and track fields. As a football player at Whitehall, Saylor was a member of the 1982 Big 33 Pennsylvania Team and a Parade Magazine All-American. He was also named AP All-State for his senior season. He currently holds the Whitehall record in the shot put. While at West Virginia University, Saylor was a member of four bowl teams, winning championships in the 1983 Hall of Fame Bowl and the 1984 Bluebonnet Bowl. Saylor later signed a free agent contract with the New York Jets.
Al Weiner, Class of 1975
Weiner was an outstanding runner for Whitehall High School in both cross country and track and field. He was a member of two Lehigh Valley League cross country champions as well as the 1973 LVL Track and Field Champions. In 1973, Weiner was undefeated in all 13 dual meets and set six course records. He was Whitehall's first District 11 cross country Champion in 1973. While at Kutztown University, Weiner was named to the All-PSAC team in track and field. As a coach at DeSales University, Weiner has been a conference Coach of the Year four times. He has coached six All-Americans and won five conference championships.
