Scott Carraher, 50, of Macungie, died January 5, 2013, in the loving arms of his wife and children. He bravely battled pancreatic cancer for 14 months. He was the husband of Gretchen (Warmkessel) Carraher. They were married for 27 years. Born in Pearl River, N.Y., he was the son of Doris (Huneke) Carraher and the late Lawrence Carraher.

He was a 1980 graduate of Emmaus High School and was named First Team All-State lineman and was chosen to play in the Pennsylvania Big 33 Game. He received a football scholarship from The Pennsylvania State University, where he was honored to be a member of the school's first NCAA National Championship football team.

He received a Bachelor of Science in business and accepted a position with Browning Manufacturing. He continued his career at Bobker Bearings of New Jersey, and at the time of his death was the northeast regional sales director for ASCO Numatics Emerson Industrial Automation Divison.

He was an active member of Bethel Church, where he was a leader of Boys' Brigade and a Sunday school teacher.

He was a beloved coach of EYA football and basketball. He was passionate about his children, helping his family and friends, going to the beach and playing his favorite sports such as basketball, softball and golf.

He is survived by his wife; five children: Erin and her husband Michael Piazza, Brian, Drew, Molly and Kyle; mother; sisters, Susan, Beth and her husband Ronald Witte and their children, Ross and Mattison. He was honored and blessed to be a part of a large extended family and a friend to too many to count.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Bethel Bible Fellowship Church, 418 Elm St., Emmaus. The service will be followed by a fellowship time. Arrangements are being made by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
