Carl L. Hinkel, 85, of Lenharts-ville, died Dec. 25, 2012, in Laurel Center, Hamburg.

He and his wife Beatrice S. (Heckman) Hinkel were married 56 years in October 2012.

Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Aaron and Estella (Kunsman) Brotzman Hinkel.

He worked for Bethlehem Steel for 44 years in the drop forge department.

He was a farmer all of his life in the Bethlehem area and then in Lynnport.

He was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ, New Tripoli.

He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 945.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Glenn and wife, Sherry, of Germansville, Randy and Melvin, both of Kempton, Paul and wife, Diane, of Gilbertsville, and Carl Jr. at home; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Larry.
