On Dec. 26, Alburtis Borough Council approved the borough budget for 2013 and adopted Ordinance 508 setting the real estate tax at 3.08 mills for 2013 with no increase in per capita tax, earned income tax, local services tax, realty transfer tax, sewer, water or garbage fees for 2013.
To set a three percent raise and benefits for maintenance and other employees, council adopted Ordinance No. 509.
Council adopted Resolution No. 2012-8 to appoint France, Anderson and Basile, P. C. the independent auditor for the borough for fiscal year 2013.
Resolution No. 2012-9 was approved for the reduction of contributions by police officers to the Borough Police Pension Plan to four percent of compensation for the year 2013.
To approve selling the 2004 Ford Crown Victoria police car to the Alburtis Volunteer Fire Department for $1, council adopted Resolution No. 2012-10.
Council reviewed a proposed ordinance from Lower Macungie Township sent to Alburtis as a courtesy before adoption. The ordinance says Lower Macungie Township will be putting apartments in a commercial district, Solicitor David Knerr said.
Questioned by Councilperson John Aleszczyk about the price of a new mower for maintenance to replace the old mower, Secretary Sharon Trexler said she is still getting quotes.
The Lockridge Historical Church will be on the Lehigh County agenda for their last meeting in January. President Steve Hill said he may attend that meeting and he would like to discuss it further at the next Alburtis meeting when more councilpersons are present.
Absent from the meeting was Mayor Kathleen Palmer and Councilpersons Margaret McCormack and David Lehr.
Following adjournment, council went into an executive session to discuss the garage at 128 W. 2nd St.
