Forrest M. Peifley Jr.

Forrest M. Peifley Jr., 73, of Upper Macungie Township, died Dec. 20, 2012, in the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, from complications related to Parkinson's disease.

He and his wife Marian C. (Resh) Peifley celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on June 25.

Born Oct. 20, 1939, in Allentown, he was the only child of the late Forrest M. "Pete" and Anna (Remmel) Peifley.

A 1957 graduate of Parkland High School; he recently was able to attend his 55th class reunion.

He was employed in supervisory positions at the former Lehigh Valley Dairy, Whitehall, and Schaefer and Stroh breweries, Fogelsville.

Since his formal retirement, he worked part-time as a courier for The Frederick Group.

A member of Jordan Evangelical Lutheran Church, Orefield, he enjoyed volunteering in the food pantry.

He played basketball and softball in the South Whitehall Township Church League and enjoyed hunting, fishing and landscaping in his yard.

He loved the game of college basketball and attended five men's NCAA Final Four Basketball Championships around the country.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his daughter Christine R., wife of John J. Hivizdak, of Allentown; grandchildren John Forrest and Alicia Rose.
