Many volunteers gathered at Macungie Park recently at a dinner to honor them for their service. Mike DeLong, chairperson of admissions and grandson of William Schoemaker, the original president of the park, has been a volunteer since he was a child. He helped to coordinate the dinner for the volunteers. He has about 150 volunteers that assist him every year for the big car shows and 300 volunteers who help throughout the year. Next year the park association will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. DeLong said the park could not survive without the dedication of the volunteers. The Park is a nonprofit organization and no tax dollars are used to support the park. ABOVE: John Duran and Bob Benner are recognized for their years of volunteer service.
