The Friends of the Emmaus Public Library hosted its sixth annual Holiday Book Sale and Reception recently in the Margaret Knoll Gardner Room of the library. The sale featured used books, some rare, for all interests and ages.
The Emmaus High School Jazz Combo played seasonal music while shoppers sampled wine, cheese and punch.
The Friends presented a check in the amount of $16,000 to the library, the organization's annual contribution. Since the founding of the organization, the Friends have contributed over $445,000 to the library.
According to Friends board member Francee Fuller, the money is raised through membership, book sales and the book cart which showcases books for the sale at the library throughout the year.
"This year's holiday book sale raised $637, about 11 percent higher than last year's sale," Fuller said. "What we give goes to the bottom line and is part of their operating budget."
Director of the Emmaus Public Library Frances Larash was very appreciative of the donation saying the money will be designated to books for the literary lunches and various programs throughout the year.
"It's a significant help; we are very appreciative to the Friends."
