Whitehall sweeps Dieruff in swimming
The Whitehall swimming teams dominated Dieruff in a Tuesday afternoon meet.
The girls swept all events and won 134-36 while the boys picked up their first win in a 94-62 contest. The girls improved to 2-1 on the season while the boys are 1-2.
Brooke Gilson and Alexus Merkert each had district qualifying times in the victory. Gilson's came in the 200 free where she won in 2:01.56 while Merkert's came in the 100 back where she won in 1:05.24.
Other winners for the Zephs saw Mairead Doyle take the 200 IM in 2:41.56 while Allison Emick won the 50 free in 27.76. Alexandra Dorner was a winner in the 100 butterfly in 1:21.43 and Jessica Marseilles captured the 100 free in 1:02.39.
Vicky Ceasar touched first in the 500 free in 6:12.90 and Mina Feyrer won the 100 breast in 1:20.20.
All three relay teams posted wins as well. Feyrer, Sarah Hersh, Merkert and Gilson won the medley relay in 2:08.45; Dorner, Gilson, Merkert and Feyrer won the 200 free in 1:49.68; and Feyrer, Merkert, Shadimon Navarro and Gilson took the 400 free in 4:12.29.
On the boys side, Rudy Romanyshyn, Jon Boyd and Jason Dziedzic were all double-winners in individual events. Romanyshyn won the 200 free in 2:13.85 and the 100 fly in 1:06.81. Boyd took first in the 100 IM in 2:20.46 and in the 500 free in 5:37.54. Dziedzic touched first in the 50 free in 24.50 and the 100 free in 55.96.
Felix Figueroa also picked up a victory for the guys, taking the 100 back in 1:14.13.
The relays teams also won. Romanyshyn, Ivan Kok, Boyd and Michael Haggerty won the 200 medley in 2:06.65. Alexis Anatalio, Romanyshyn, Anthony Fragnito and Dziedzic won the 200 free in 1:51.20. Haggerty, Figuerroa, Dziedzic and Boyd won the 400 free in 4:06.90.

The Whitehall swimming team lost to Liberty last Thursday afternoon.
The girls fell 95-75 while the boys lost 115-34.
Despite the loss, the girls had three double winners on the day in Alexus Merkert, Mina Feyrer and Brook Gilson. Merkert won the 200 free in 2:08.20 along with the 100 fly in 1:01.75. Gilson won the 50 free in 25.99 and also took the 100 free in 56.33. Feyrer had wins in the 200 IM in 2:18.31 and in the 100 back in 101.83.
The girls were also on the winning end of two relays. Feyrer, Jess Marseilles, Merkert, and Gilson teamed up to win the medley relay in 1:56.21. Allison Emick, Merkert, Feyrer and Gilson won the 400 free in 3:52.25.
The boys a couple of individual winners in their meet. John Boyd won the 500 free in 5:43.34 and Rudy Romanyshyn took the 100 back in 1:0.96.
The boys 400 free relay team also won. It was made up of Boyd, Anthony Fragnito, Kyle Lopez and Felix Figueroa and they had a winning time of 4:18.30.
