NASB reorganizes

The Northampton Area School Board has retained its president, but has chosen a new vice president.

During the annual reorganization meeting Dec. 3, which preceded the regular board meeting, board member David Gogel was retained as president, receiving seven votes, with school board member Dr. Michael Baird receiving two votes.

Board member Jane Erdo was elected vice president. She received five votes, with Jean Rundle, the incumbent vice president, receiving four votes.

"I'd like to thank Jean [Rundle] for her last few years as vice president," said Gogel.

"I'd also like to thank Jean," added Erdo.

Board member Cory Fenstermaker chaired the meeting before the reorganization.

Also during the 40-minute reorganization meeting, the board voted to set its 2013 meeting dates: Jan. 14, 28; Feb. 11, 25; March 11, 25; April 8, 22; May 6, 20; June 10, 24; July 8, 22; Aug. 12, 26; Sept. 9, 23; Oct. 14, 28; Nov. 11, 25; and Dec. 2, 16, and to hold meetings at 6:30 p.m. in the NASD administration building, 2014 Laubach Ave., Northampton.

In school board committee appointments, the board voted to approve:

· Act 93 – Baird, Judy Odenwelder, Rundle

· Contract Negotiations – Darin Arthofer, Jennifer Miller, Odenwelder

· Employee Benefit Trust – Rundle

· Facilities – Gogel, Robert Koch, Miller, Rundle

· Meet and Discuss – Fenstermaker, Miller, Odenwelder

· Policy – Baird, Odenwelder, Miller (replacing Rundle)

· Safe Schools – Miller, Odenwelder (replacing Rundle)

· Technology – Arthofer, Baird

· PSBA Liaison – Baird, Fenstermaker (alternate)

· Public Library Liaison – Odenwelder

· Nazareth COG Liaison – Gogel

· Expulsion Committee – Gogel, Miller, Erdo

· Foundation Committee – Miller (replacing Rundle)

The school board holds its final regular 2012 board meeting at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 17 in the administration building.
