Barely visible at the Borough of Northampton's Christmas Plaza is a small red-painted mailbox.
Mothers and fathers have helped their children locate the special box, which has "Santa's Mailbox" painted on it in white letters.
Letters dropped into the vintage mailbox do not need stamps or modern transportation in order to reach their destinations – Santa's workshop in the Santa at the North Pole. Santa has dispatched his elves, with the assistance of his reindeers, to collect and deliver the letters.
Located on the metal pole next to the 32-foot-tall lighted and decorated evergreen tree is the brightly colored mailbox.
Santa promises to write back to each child and reminds them to include a return address.
Borough officials at Thursday's council meeting reported Christopher Koval, a public works employee, has again volunteered to see that Santa and his team of elves and reindeers deliver every letter.
"They are always answered," he notes.
The letters usually include a wish list. It is no surprise electronic items are on top of the lists.
Strawberry Shortcake dolls, Barbie dolls, action figures, trikes and scooters are also frequently seen on the lists. Many children write to say they will make sure Santa is greeted with milk and cookies when he comes to visit.
Some children have asked Santa not forget their parents, requesting everything from gloves to new cars.
