Firefighters from Western Salisbury Fire Department responded to 1255 S. Cedar Crest Blvd. Cedar Crest Professional park for a reported automatic alarm Dec. 4 just after 1p.m. Western Salisbury Fire Chief Josh Wells was first on scene and reported a smoke condition on the third floor of the building and that the building was being evacuated. Wells upgraded the call to a smoke in the structure and requested an additional engine from Eastern Salisbury Fire Department The cause of the smoke was from a malfunctioning heating unit. That unit was taken out of service. Firefighters used electric fans and deodorizers to help remove the smoke from Suite 3900. There were no injuries reported and everyone was allowed to re-enter the building shortly after 1p.m.
