When a team from Parkland High School makes it to state competition, students participate in something that occurs every few years-a pep rally.
On Nov. 17, the girls volleyball team competed in state competition for the second year in a row and were given a pep rally the Friday before in their honor.
"I loved that the whole school came together to show their support for the girls volleyball team," senior Adrienne Nichols said. "It was great to see everyone so excited."
Students, faculty and staff gathered during the last two periods of the day to show their support for the volleyball team.
During the pep rally, the cheerleaders, along with the band, got everybody cheering and on their feet.
The dance team also performed showing the school one of their routines for the year.
"It was an awesome experience for our team and it was great to see the school's support for us," senior volleyball player Taylor Krause said. "We really appreciated everything everyone had done to put that together."
As is tradition at all pep rallies, groups of students and faculty competed in a chocolate eating contest.
This year because the game was taking place in York, everyone ate York Peppermint Patties.
After minutes of tense competition, the science department was victorious.
To end the pep rally, Coach Mike Krause gave a speech about the girls' hard work and how their season progressed until they headed to state competition.
