Stephen M. "McBean" Skommitz Jr., 59, of Macungie, died peacefully at home November 27, 2012, following a long and courageous battle with brain cancer. He was the husband of Barbara D. (Diehl) Skomitz for 33 years. He was the son of Clare (Bellew) Skomitz of Bethlehem, and the late Stephen M. Skomitz Sr.

A 1971 graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Corry during the Vietnam War and returned to work many years for the City of Bethlehem until retiring due to his illness.

He loved music, bowling and playing slow-pitch softball, but his passion was Notre Dame football. He enjoyed traveling, going on cruises and going out to dinner with his family.

He is survived by his wife; mother; sisters, Eileen and her husband Cliff Thomas of Moore Township, Rosemary and her husband Ronald Stouffer of Mt. Penn; nephews, and godsons, Justin and Kevin Thomas; many loving and dedicated family members and friends. His beloved dog Finnegan was a constant companion.
