Paul E. DeVries, 89, of Emmaus, died November 30, 2012, in his residence surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Regina E. "Betty" (Brady) DeVries. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in June 2012. Born in Alburtis, he was the son of the late Andrew F. and Emily L. (Greer) DeVries.

He was a 1940 graduate of Emmaus High School.

He retired from Mack Trucks Inc.

He honorably served his country in the Navy during World War II.

He was an active member of St. John's U.C.C., a life member of the Emmaus VFW, member of the Emmaus Historical Society, Mack Trucks Retirees, UAW Local 677, member of the Macungie Cribbage Club, and voted for 68 consecutive years. He was a volunteer at Lehigh Valley Hospital in the cancer unit.

He is survived by his wife; daughter, Susan G., wife of Thomas Snyder of Emmaus; granddaughters, Donna M. and her husband Craig Waterman, R. Elizabeth and her husband Bryan Cosby, and Hollie and her husband Wyatt Genser; great-grandchildren, Kevin, Hannah, Sarah Jane, Rian, Liam, and Gavin. He was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara A. Althouse; brothers, Wesley and Gerald.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13 at St. John's U.C.C., 139 N. 4th St., Emmaus. Friends may call 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the church. Arrangements were made by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
