Burrell Joseph Brown, 82, of Wildwood, Fla., died September 13, 2012, in Leesburg, Fla. Born in Fountain HIll, B.J. was the son of the late Joseph B. and Ruth L. (Schaffer) Brown.

He was a 1948 graduate of Emmaus High School where he was All Lehigh Valley League in football.

He was a Marine Corps Korean War veteran (1948-1952) and received a Purple Heart medal.

He graduated from the University of Tampa in 1956 where he played football.

He was employed by the General Telephone Company of Florida as a community relations coordinator in Tampa. He retired as a realtor in Florida.

He is survived by his former wife, Katharine Stoll Barker; daughters, Trish and her husband Johnny Vernazza of California, Kathy and her husband John Carroll of Georgia; son, Patrick and his wife Haley of California; grandchildren, Peyton and John Carroll, Cooper and Grace; brother, Robert "Mike" and his wife Sally; nephew, Jim.

In memory of B.J., do a special kindness for a veteran. Interment took place at St. Ann's Calvary Cemetery, Emmaus.
