Sacred Heart Senior Living by the Creek, Northampton, celebrated Veterans Day by honoring 20 residents who served in the military, including some from World War II.

With the sound of the anthem of the branch of service the veteran belonged to, each resident was ushered into the hall to enthusiastic applause. Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4714, Northampton, and its honor guard presented a program. Gene Kutzler played "Amazing Grace" on bagpipes.

Each veteran received a certificate and Steve Strella, legislative aide to state Rep. Julie Harhart, R-183rd, presented each veteran with a medal of honor with a red. white and blue ribbon.

Laurie Hetherington, director of activities, led a toast to the veterans. Stanley Reinhard Jr., a Coplay American Legion officer and retired Pennsylvania American Legion adjutant, gave the principal address.

Honored were Navy veterans Donald D. Diehl, World War II; Frank M. Brinkac, World War II; Edward V. Cincotta, Korea; Dwight N. Kloiber, Vietnam; Charles F. Fry, World War II and Vietnam; and Robert Koch, Vietnam.

Army veterans honored include Bulah M. Hay, World War II; Steven Franko, World War II; Robert H. Zenz, Vietnam; Richard C. Yochum, World War II; Richard D. Wilcox, Vietnam; William C. Skrapits, Korea; Stephen A. Gerkovich; Martin J. Stellar, World War II; and Charles E. Bednar, Korea.

Also honored were Air Force veterans Robert Wasko and Edward A. LaChapelle, both of whom served in peace time, and Marines veteran Edwin F. Kotrosits, World War II.
