A national campaign has taken shape advertising Saturday as the day for people to do Christmas shopping at smaller local stores rather at the big box chains.
The businesses in Coplay might make a good place to get some shopping done without the crowds, traffic or issues over parking.
Coplay features a hobby store, a country store gift shop and a sporting goods store, among others.
Don't know what to buy that someone special? For family or loved ones, restaurants in the borough offer gift cards, allowing the person or persons to enjoy a night out on the town with a dinner fit for a king or queen.
The Coplay Public Library is also selling Pellman pies, with pickup 3 p.m. Dec. 21, just in time for Christmas. Order by Dec. 14 by calling the library, 610-262-7351, or visiting the fundraisers tab at www.coplaypubliclibrary.com.
The library is also selling gift cards for Giant and 2013 Entertainment books for $30. Information is available on the library website or by calling.
While in the holiday spirit, Sunday afternoons can be spent at the municipal building, Fourth and Center streets, where Explorer Scouts will have their putz on display and along with trains chugging on ribbons of track. Visit the display on the second floor of town hall.
