John Louis Krajsa Jr., Esq.

John Louis Krajsa Jr., Esq., 65, of Lower Macungie Township, died suddenly on November 9, 2012, while on a 30th wedding anniversary trip to the Dominican Republic. He was the husband of JoEllen Kennedy Krajsa. He was the son of the late John L. and Anna Krajsa.

He was the president of AFC Reverse Mortgage which he founded in 2004. He was one of only fifty certified reverse mortgage professionals in the nation.

Prior to founding AFC Reverse, he and his brother owned and operated AFC First Financial Corporation, a company founded by their parents in 1947, where he was named chairman in 1991.

He was a graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School and received a Bachelor of Arts from Villanova University where he was a member of the Villanova Singers and Alpha Pi Omega, a national service fraternity. He earned his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center and received an LLM in taxation from Temple University Law School. After law school, he became a member of The Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Virginia Bar Association.

He served as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington D.C. where he helped create the rural industrial loan program.

He was a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and served in the Marine reserves for several years. He practiced pension and tax law before joining his family's business on a full time basis.

Active in the community, he was a current member of the board of directors and the executive committee of the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC) and chairman of the administration committee of the LVEDC. He was currently the president of the St. Thomas More Society, a diocesan organization of Catholic lawyers, judges and political leaders. He was a member of the finance and golf committees of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. He was chairman of the Allentown Area Hospital Authority, past chairman of the Lehigh County Industrial Development Authority, past chairman of the Cedar Crest College Board of Associates, past member of the Lehigh and Northampton Counties Joint Planning Commission, past chairman of the banking & securities and law committees of the Pennsylvania Financial Services Association and a past member of the law committee of the American Financial Services Association. He was a past professor of business law at Pennsylvania State University. He was a Rotarian and actively engaged in their student exchange program.

He was a parishioner of St. Thomas More where he was an involved volunteer and a member of MOST. He was an active volunteer of Meals on Wheels.

He was a 40 year member of Brookside Country Club.

He is survived by his wife; daughter, Judith and her husband Paul Cannon and their son Owen of Lansdale; son, John L. III, a student at Drexel University School of Law, daughter Mary, a student at Elizabethtown College; sister, Anne and her husband Christopher Snyder, of New Canaan, Conn.; brother, Peter and his wife Paula of Allentown; many cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews.
