Two vehicle crash
on I-78, Upper Mac
Heather B. Levine, 30, of Washington, D.C., was driving a 2000 Volvo S70 was westbound in the left lane of I-78 at 7:40 a.m. Nov. 6 on I-78, Upper Macungie Township, when her vehicle hit a 2009 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven in front of the Volvo in the right lane by Dale E. Auckland, 69, of Quakertown, State Police Troop M Fogelsville say.
Police say the Volvo turned toward the left berm of the roadway.
Levine attempted to correct this and apparently lost control of the vehicle, which began to spin in a clockwise direction.
The vehicle traveled from the left berm in a northwestern direction across the left lane of the road.
The front driver's side hit the rear driver's side of the pickup, which began to spin in a counter clockwise direction.
The pickup rolled onto its passenger side, then onto its roof, traveled across the left lane and came to final rest on its roof facing southeast, partially blocking the left lane of I-78 westbound.
The Volvo came to a final rest on the right berm on I-78. The left lane of I-78 westbound was closed for approximately 30 minutes, police say.
Levine, who was wearing her seat belt, was uninjured, police say.
Auckland and his passenger Phyllis Auckland, 68, of Quakertown, who were both wearing their seat belts, sustained minor injuries.
Both Aucklands were transported by Cetronia Ambulance Corps to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene by Getz Towing.
Upper Macungie Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
Levine will be cited before District Judge Michael Faulkner, Upper Macungie Township.
Man charged with
having marijuana
State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Ahmad Jamal Germany, 30, of Hempstead, N.Y. was stopped for an alleged traffic violation 12:26 a.m. Oct. 26 on Route 222 at Millcreek Road, Upper Macungie Township.
Police allege Germany displayed multiple indicators of intoxication due to controlled substances and had a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
A blood test was conducted, police say.
Charges were filed against Germany and the incident is pending court proceedings.
Driver stopped
by state police
Keith Smillowski, of the 2400 block of Allenbrook Drive, Allentown, was stopped at 12:35 a.m. Nov. 8 for allegedly speeding on Route 309 at Route 22, South Whitehall Township, State Police Troop M Fogelsville say.
Police say Smillowski was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
Charges against Smillowski are pending results of the blood test, police say.

State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Michael Anthony Smith, 25, of Allentown, was stopped for a traffic violation on the Route 222 bypass at Cedar Crest Boulevard, South Whitehall Township, at 11:53 a.m. Nov. 5.
Police allege Smith was under the influence of alcohol.
Charges are pending before Dictrict Judge Jake Hammond, South Whitehall Township.
