LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor:

Although the lines were long and the wait extended longer than remembered in our 40-plus years of residence here, we were impressed with the concerned and professional work of all the volunteers working the polls at Parkway Manor Elementary School, South Whitehall, so we could vote.

Before the election, I had been asked to monitor our polling place to make sure a photo ID was not required this year for registered voters.

Because I did not get necessary instructions (compliments of Hurricane Sandy's electrical outages) I had not gotten the required permit and thus could not do that task.

However, my observations while waiting to vote told me I was not needed.

From table signs saying identification for registered voters was not needed this year, to courteous and helpful staff, to Debra Houser, the judge of elections working hard to help someone who had recently moved into our area, a veteran of many years, whose paperwork had not been recorded in the county, to get a provisional ballot, made me proud to be in this area.

Thank you again.

S. Emily Vincent
