Several Lehigh Valley women gave up a recent Saturday to create and package note cards at at St. John's United Church of Christ, Fogelsville, for American troops serving overseas.

The project helps members of the military keep in touch with their families and friends.

The cards were created by scrapbooking techniques. An insert of extra note paper is used for additional writing space.

Each cardmaker used her own supplies.

There have been 1,749, 393 cards shipped nationwide since 2007.
