On Sunday, Nov. 18, the community's three churches – St. John's Lutheran, St. Peter's Roman Catholic and Trinity United Church of Christ – will hold their annual ecumenical Thanksgiving Service.

Trinity U.C.C., Third and Coplay streets, will host the service. The evening service rotates yearly among the three churches.

Monsignor John Martin, pastor at St.Peter's, will conduct the homily, a principal message delivered at the service. Playing roles at the Thanksgiving service are Rev. Steve Hummel, pastor at Trinity U.C.C., and the Rev. Timothy Boyer, pastor at St. John's Lutheran.

The choirs from the three participating churches will blend their voices in song for the program. The Coplay Garden Club will place flowers at the church for the program. The offering from those attending will go toward a charity or organization chosen by the three churches.

The dark blue borough Emergency Management Agency vehicle operated by borough EMA Director Tim Keller has been parked on Center Street, next to the municipal building, the past several weeks due to a faulty transmission.

Because of the vehicle's age, borough officials have contended it may not be worth repairing.

During Hurricane Sandy, Keller used other borough vehicles, such as the unmarked police vehicle.

Mayor Joseph Bundra is reaching out to the community. Bundra states borough residents may address any issues or concerns they have either in person, or by calling his residence, 484-239-1611 or email him at mayor@boroughofcoplay.org.

The mayor is also present at borough council's workshops and regular meetings each month.

With some home remodeling and repairs underway in residences across town thanks to Hurricane Sandy, residents are reminded large amounts of discarded materials are not to be placed out for garbage pickup.

Property owners should obtain a Dumpster for such disposal.
