Workshop offered

The League of Women Voters of Lehigh and Northampton Counties will be conducting their seventh biennial "Running for Local Office Workshop" 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 17. It will be held at the Kiva Building at Northampton Community College, 3835 Green Pond Road Bethlehem.

This workshop is designed to give someone thinking of running for local office, or working on a campaign, an understanding of how to qualify and run for local office. Lehigh Valley offices up for election in 2013 include county office, mayor, city council, borough council, township supervisor, township commissioner, school director and magisterial district judge.

Individuals will learn how to start, organize, and manage a campaign, do the legal paperwork, work with a committee, work with the press and learn techniques which have worked successfully for others.

There is a charge which will cover the cost of materials, including a workbook.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization whose purpose is to promote political responsibility through active and informed participation of citizens.

Additional information and an application form can be obtained at the League website www.lwvlv.org or by contacting Ken Mohr at 610-282-1921.
