Police respond to Hurricane Sandy
Coplay police on Monday responded to several weather related service calls arising from Hurricane Sandy.
The calls, taken from Oct. 29 until late afternoon Oct. 30, included a tree down, wires down, a tree on a porch, branches down, siding blown off a residence and a low hanging wire, police said.
Police said power to some homes at the 12th and Magna Drive area were still without electricity as of Monday.
Hit-and-run reported
Police on Nov. 2 responded to a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident in the 800 block of Chestnut Street.
A witness told police a maroon mini van traveling toward Whitehall Township struck the driver's side mirror of a Hyundai Elantra parked in the 800 block of Chestnut Street.
Police said the parked vehicle is registered to a resident of the block where the accident took place.
Fire alarm sounds
The borough fire department on Nov. 4. responded to a fire alarm at 11 N. Front St., Apt. 6.
Police said the fire alarm was activated as a result of cooking on the stove. Fire department personnel handled the situation, police said.
Domestic assault reported
A man will be cited by borough police with domestic assault stemming from an incident Nov. 1 in the 100 block of Chestnut Street.
Police said they arrived to find a woman who said she was assaulted during an argument. The man fled before officers arrived at the scene, police said.
