Charles Kiernan entertained members and friends of the Lower Macungie Township Historical Society recently with scary stories told in the Bortz Log House in Wescosville.

Kiernan, a board member of the historical society, is a member of the Lehigh Valley Storytelling Guild. Among the tales he told in his inimitable style were some derived from the tales of the Brothers Grimm, others based on ancient English and Irish myths and one set in his own creation, the village of Lost Dollar with its strange and memorable residents.

Firelight and candles lit the old log house, which was decorated for the occasion by Robbie and Tom Flynn and other volunteers.

The Storytelling Guild will share "Scary Stories" 7 p.m. Oct. 31, at Godfrey Daniels, 7 East Fourth Street, South Bethlehem. The event is open to the public.
